Bill Clinton nudged Trump to run in the GOP

This was reported early on, but it’s worth reviewing. The post is short.

Several in the media have speculated that Trump is somehow connected to Bill Clinton in his decision to campaign as a Republican.

Now WaPo confirms it:

Former president Bill Clinton had a private telephone conversation in late spring with Donald Trump at the same time that the billionaire investor and reality-television star was nearing a decision to run for the White House, according to associates of both men.

Four Trump allies and one Clinton associate familiar with the exchange said that Clinton encouraged Trump’s efforts to play a larger role in the Republican Party and offered his own views of the political landscape.

It all makes sense.  Only recently did he self-identify as a Democrat and donate a lot of money to them and contribute around $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation.

Trump’s journey shows him to be a rootless, opportunistic, wandering political soul.

He might be destined to run as a spoiler and give the White House to the Democrat.  Billionaires with huge egos don’t go away quietly.  Just think of Ross Perot, who, many believe, cost George H.W. Bush the election, according to a state-by-state analysis.
